Other Tongues

A heavenly language that tells of the wondrous works of God
Other tongues

A conversation between the Holy Spirit and the Father
Other tongues

Groanings that cannot be uttered, concerning secrets I cannot fathom
Other tongues

An intercessory prayer prayed on my behalf
Other tongues

A language to be desired, to be cherished and respected
Other tongues

Ancient words, holy words, unknown words: stirs my soul to speak,
Other tongues

Sweeping fire, burning, singing through my soul and being
Other tongues

Secrets, healing, comfort in the liquid language of the soul
Other tongues

Like a rush from heaven, like wind, like fire – they spoke in
Other tongues

Angels are amazed, demons tremble, the Spirit moves because of –
Other tongues

A Gift, a promise, a burning embrace is –
Other tongues

  1. I like this. There are, I believe, at least three lines you wrote that further express tongues as a passion, like a flame that’s just burning hotter and brighter and you just can’t keep it in your heart any longer. It wants to cry forth, not holding back.

It appears to be what I feel on the inside, not what I feel in my flesh, but the power I feel in my spirit, the power of love that I need to express because it rises in me and quickens in me like a flooding and trembling overflow of God’s shining glory.

It’s like when I am singing to the Lord and you hear those words being sung, when they say those words that hit you with the love and power of God deep in that one area in your spirit man, and then tongues burst from that.

I used to say that there were four times that God has touched me very powerfully. Now I can’t say that anymore. But one time was when I started talking out loud in my kitchen, near my dining room table, about the glory of God. And then suddenly, there was like a spiritual “pop”, a crack, or a “breaking forth”, something of a tiny “twitch” in my spirit, at the direct center of my stomach. All of the glory and power that God had showered on me was suddenly condensing itself into a very tangible and united form of God’s power, like a divine, “gathering together” of God’s power in me, which then slowly began to rise from my stomach into my chest, into my throat and up the throat.

God was bringing me to express what I felt burning and flaming on the inside through the guidance and indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He wanted me to express His wonders, His will, His prayer and desire through His language of tongues by His Holy Ghost. Oh, I feel like speaking tongues right now. I’ve got to go and sing His praise right now. There is a very tangible and thick anointing of your poetry and your ministry right here, right now. Thank you. God bless.

    • You’re right on target! The Holy Spirit is described as both water and fire: as water by John who says, “He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Jesus told the woman at the well he would give her water she knew not of – meaning the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is described as fire by Jeremiah who says, “…his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.”

The very moment we believe and receive the Holy Spirit we receive both water and fire; water to quench the thirsting soul and fire to burn away all sin and shame. God is so real and it is through Him I live, I move and have my very being. To God be all the glory! I praise God that you were so blessed. Continue to sing His praise and to let the Holy Spirit have his way in your life pastor Chris and you will go far.

Thanks for commenting and for the encouragement!
