“One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you.” Joshua 23:10
God is the lover of my soul, and yours. He loves the world, no matter that the world does not love Him. He died for us. He prepared himself a body, wrapped himself in flesh and walked among us, all in preparation to give the perfect sacrifice to bring us back to him.
We were in bondage, shackled to sin, with no way of escape but God! He fought death, hell and the grave for us and won! What a God. What-A-God! Who is greater than this, our God? Who can withstand Him? Who can say no when he says yes? No one! Nothing can stand before the Righteous King – many have tried but all have fallen. The Shepherd King, the Ruler of time and space outwits, out shines, out maneuvers every foe. Who but God could have stretched the universe, create and align planets just so and form beings whose intellects would one day make it possible to travel beyond the seemingly limitless sky? Who – but God?
Think on these things and then consider, this is the God who fights for you – for us! He hears your cry late in the deepest night when your tears are falling and hell is all around you trying to prevent you from reaching out to God. My friend, my sister and brother, your prayer was heard and answered even before you were born. Our God knew you before your parents were conceived and created a way of escape for you.
The never ending road to nowhere that stretches out before you is merely a façade, a trick of the enemy. There is a destination, there is a hope, there is a plan and it’s all in God. The man who fights for you is the same man who allowed himself to be beaten for your sake, to be mocked and scourged, to be disfigured beyond recognition. This same God loves you. He feels your pain, he knows your aches, your disappointments, your fears, your childhood hurts and the secrets the devil constantly accuses you of.
God, the Alpha and Omega, is the answer to every single prayer you’ve prayed. He is constantly fighting the devil on your behalf. Sometimes he even has to fight your own insecurities and fears just to make you hear him. Sometimes God answers us but we can’t hear him because of all the clamor. We look for God to answer with a loud shout; he doesn’t need big flashes of light and clouds of smoke to make his presence known. *I Kings 19:11-12 All he needs is for you to pray a prayer of faith, trusting that once you rise from your knees, the problem is solved. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16 No matter how it looks, if you give it to God and believe, consider it done.
God honors faith and he will fight for us – if we just believe him. When we don’t believe him, in essence, we’re calling him a liar. He said that he would be with us and would never forsake us31:8 and if he said it, then that settles it. God is not a liar! “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19 No! God’s word accomplishes what he sends it to do. Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
I’ve been facing something in my life that, I have to admit, shook me. But I know God has answered my prayer. I defy the enemy. I will trust my God. I know he loves me and I know he heard my cry. I know it and I’m going to stand on it. If my God said it – then it’s done and that’s that!
My brother and sister, dear ones, God is real. He does not change – ever. If he fought for his people 2000 years ago, he’s still fighting today. Be encouraged. Don’t give up, no matter what lies the devil hands you. No matter the lies the devil shows you. No matter what you tell you! Don’t – Give – Up – On – God.
And finally beloved, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified…for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
