Hidden in God – Alive in Christ

Hidden in God; Alive in Christ @ saintintraining.net

“Think only about the things in Heaven not the things on earth.” Colossians 3:2 NCV

How many of us have come away from the Laundry with one sock missing? We place our dirty laundry into the machine, bleach them, soap them, rinse and dry them and in the midst of our sorting we find one lone sock when we know we had two!

Did the sock disappear in an invisible black hole? Did the sock gremlins come to carry it away to Sock Land? Unfortunately we’ll never know.

Like that lone sock that goes missing into the great unknown, our old nature goes missing into the black void of our old lives. We go before God with a dirty life, a dirty mind and a sin-riddled heart looking to be made clean. He soaps us in His love, bleaches us in His blood, sorts us out with the Holy Spirit and we’re made new in Christ Jesus!

Colossians 3:3 (paraphrased) says our old life is gone and we are kept in (hidden in) God with Christ. (1) What an encouragement! God does not lead us to repentance and baptism to then leave us to find our own way. No! He takes us in with Christ and hides us/keeps us within Himself. Is there any better hiding place, any better shelter than in God?

The world offers many temptations and many moments where one decision can lead us away from God but thank God for His grace and favor. God has chosen you and me and made us His holy people. He loves us! (Colossians 3:12) He will not leave us to walk alone.

Little by little He makes us over to resemble Him; little by little as we focus on those things above our old nature gives place to a new nature, one that looks like God. Don’t be discouraged because you make mistakes. We’re made holy each day but we will not be perfected until we reach Heaven. God does not expect perfection from us, what He does expect is for us to rely on His strength, trust His love and to obey His Word to the best of our ability. With the in-filling of the Holy Ghost our ability is astronomically increased beyond mere human abilities so even in that – He’s with us.

Jesus cautioned us to remain in Him. He said, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” John 15:4 NLT. So you see, if we remain in Christ, we will remain Hidden in God.

Think about the things in heaven. Live for those things. Live to please God. If we do these things then we’ll remain.

Beloved, do not now or ever leave the Ark of Safety, the Cleft in the Rock, the Hiding Place. We dare not go back to the bin of past sins, looking for our old nature. It is no more. Let it stay that way!

Let us live, move and have our being in Christ Jesus; with Christ we live, with Christ we stay hidden in God. I don’t know about you but if I’m lost in Jesus, I don’t want to be found!

Pouring Into You: a poem of promise

Pouring into You_ a poem @ saintintraining.net

I pour into you [seep…seep…seep]

The aroma of holiness:  [seep…seep…seep]

My glory, honor and peace [seep…seep…seep].

Into you I infuse Myself and all that I am is all that you will become

but, only if I in you:  seep…seep…seep.

Have you ever heard it said, “The darker the color, the richer the flavor,” regarding a good tasting tea? It’s true. The longer tea leaves are left to seep the fuller the taste and the richer the experience. So it is with us and Jesus – we have to seep in Him to become more like Him. The longer we abide in Him the richer, the stronger we become. Beloved, I encourage you today to seep…seep…seep in the presence of the Lord and He will pour more into you.

Meditation Scripture: John 15:4-5 NIV

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Do You Know Who You Are?

Who You Are is in Christ @saintintraining.net

Just as a husband is to love his bride Christ loves his church (his body). In the book of Ephesians Paul relays the love of Christ by way of explaining Christ’s plans for His bride (Ephesians 5:25-27). God wants us to know definitively who we are in Him and who we are to Him.

It’s hard to conceive of God’s love for us, an imperfect and sin-ridden people. It’s part of our nature to love those who love us in return so we find it difficult to believe and to receive a love that’s freely given. Yet God the Father and our Master Jesus Christ calls us His “portion” and special possession. (Deut. 32:9) We are God’s gift to Himself. Mind boggling I know but it’s true. How can it be so?

Ephesians 1:3-6 from The Message bible explains it this way:

How blessed is God! And what a blessing He is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in Him. Long before He laid down earth’s foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love. Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure He took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of His lavish gift-giving by the hand of His beloved Son.

Despite all our sinsDo you see? It’s not because we’re so good, not because of anything we’ve done (or can do) but it’s quite simply through Christ Jesus that we gain access to God’s love. He purposed it so from the very beginning! That means that He saw us through His Son, the Divine Filter, and loved us. Despite our sin, all of our hang-ups and short comings God sees us as His beautiful bride. Hallelujah! Is that not a cause to rejoice? Imagine an anxious bridegroom waiting at the altar longing to see His beautiful bride walk through the doorway. There’s a moment of silence pregnant with anticipation then the music begins and all eyes turn toward the doors and enters you and me!

God is the Heavenly Bridegroom and we are His Bride. And who gives us away? His Son! “What pleasure He took in planning this. He wanted us to enter into the celebration of His lavish gift-giving by the hand of His beloved Son.” He united with us in Holy matrimony and instead of a ring He gave us His very spirit: the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 49:16 reads thus: “See I have engraved you on the palms of my hand.”

Beloved are you beginning to realize who you are? John declared, “You are of God…” that means we are His seed, His heritage. He is in us and we are in Him. Do you know whose you are?

We are God’s gift to Himself and He (Christ) is God’s gift to us. It is through/in Christ that our freedom, from sin and God’s judgement was made manifest. All of God’s plans for and concerning us were bundled up in Christ. Do you remember when Jesus said I have not come to do away with the law but to fulfill it? He was not only speaking of the Laws of Moses but He was also speaking of God’s long range plans for us. He saw us afar off and planned for us! For every misstep He planned a way out. For every tear He prepared a word of comfort, for every instance of our lives God made plans for each of us.

We are not mistakes: we are a part of God’s divine plan! If a born-again believer attempts We are not mistakes!to live a saved life (the early disciples called it The Way) without knowing who He/she is in Christ their life will be fraught with failure after failure. Only the Holy Spirit can give this revelation, if you have not received the in-filling of the Holy Spirit (as evidenced by the speaking of other tongues/a true language taught only by the Spirit) I encourage you to seek God for the baptism experience.

The following scriptures are for your study and edification. We pray that God encourages your heart in your reading and meditation. Beloved you matter to God, seek Him and allow Him to reveal Himself to you.
