“They then said, What are we to do, that we may [habitually] be working the works of God? [What are we to do to carry out what God requires?]

Jesus replied, This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].” John 6:28 – 29 AMP

Car dealers and department stores offer deals, discounts and sales in an attempt to entice us to buy – Right Now!! No sale lasts indefinitely, all deals and discounts end. We’re programmed to believe that nothing good lasts forever. But there is One I know who never changes. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forevermore!

There is not a word that God utters that does not carry out the thing it is set to accomplish. His word once given cannot fall to the ground unless it’s been fulfilled. God told Jeremiah, “I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” Jeremiah 1:12 NIV
People with the mentality of ‘get it while the getting is good’ and ‘seeing, is believing’ cannot easily receive the things of God.

The people asked, “What are we to do?” As if human ability is enough to carry out the works of God. Christ responded in a way that, if viewed through human faculties, seemed to make no sense. He told them to simply believe in the Messenger God had sent.

The people rejected such a simplified, unadorned answer. Surely He could perform some great feat? Perhaps cause bread to from Heaven as in the days of Moses? They asked for something that, if compared to the miracle they were experiencing, was trivial.

You see, they stood in the very presence of God himself. Jesus Christ was God in the flesh. The God of all creation had draped himself in human flesh to walk among the people He intended for salvation but they were too blind, too carnal to see or to believe.

“It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.

But [still] some of you fail to believe and trust and have faith.” John 6:63 – 64a AMP

And today we are not very different. God is no longer manifested before us in a physical shell, no, He’s much closer. God lives inside each Believer.

“Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).” John 6:35 AMP

Christ is to the soul what bread is to the body. He nourishes and sustains us; providing us all the essentials of what is needed for us to live naturally, spiritually, right on into Eternity. To believe in God, to believe God (what he says/promises) is to receive the life-sustaining bread. Jesus told the woman at the well that if she were to believe on him she would have water that would never run dry.

Beloved, there is no expiration date in Jesus Christ. His power doesn’t spoil nor does His love go rancid. He was, and is and is to come. He never changes. Even canned food will eventually sour. Salt will eventually lose its flavor but God will go on being God forever and His word will never fail!

“…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]
“So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5b – 6 AMP

The promises of God are “Yes and Amen” (so be it) in Christ Jesus. Jesus is God’s Yes Man. 2 Corinthians 1:20

Believe God my brothers and sisters. If you struggle with doubt and unbelief don’t talk down to yourself, rather be transparent with the Father. We are to go boldly before the Seat of Mercy and make our petitions known. Be like the father of the demoniac son, be truthful and just like Jesus had mercy on him and healed his son, He will have mercy on you. Remember, He’s our strength when we’re weak, even when we’re faithless, He is still faithful.

Believe in the Messenger God has sent and watch your life be renewed!

Wisdom Speaks – Will You Listen?

Wisdom Speaks - Will You Listen_ @saintintraining.net

“The quiet words of a wise person are better than the shouts of a foolish ruler. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much good.”
Ecclesiastes 9:17 – 18 ESV

The Wisdom of Solomon is known by most of us; really his wisdom stemmed from God and through him we see a small measure of just how wise God is. It is a wise man who puts his trust in God while a foolish man seeks his own counsel. Wisdom, for the most part, is not cherished in today’s society. The masses look to talk-show hosts, media moguls, talking pundits and soothsayers for words to guide them through the rocky path that is life. But today we’re going to look to the words of truth.

Solomon said a mouthful when he spoke of the destruction caused by the unwise, the sinful and the foolish. It takes only one sinful person to topple a kingdom. We can look to Adolf Hitler for an example. He was a single man full-up and overflowing with an ocean of evil. This ungodly man seduced an entire nation into sin – sin that left a permanent stain on its people and the following generations.

But praise God, just as one sinful person can destroy a nation, a church or a family, one God can save a soul, deliver a family and draw an entire race unto Himself.

God alone is greater than any power or principality! The angel asked Mary, the mother of Jesus, “Is there anything too hard for God?” The answer is a resounding, “NO!!”

If you’ve been told that all hope is lost I tell you – God can.

If your family is on the brink of destruction and stand in need of rescue – God can.

If your spouse, sibling or boss has leaned hard on your last nerve and you just want relief – God can!

While it is truth that one sinner can destroy much good. It’s equally true that one God, the only God can do anything but fail.

God said, “I will give a nation for you.” Do you believe Him? If so, then why despair? Since God alone is greater than any majority and you know He’ll give a nation for you what are you worried about?

Get up from where you are, raise your hands in praise and give thanks for the God who can do anything but fail!

God can and He will!

He Makes Our Paths Straight

The only clear path is the one that God makes for us @saintintraining.net

“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar. The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.” Proverbs 19:20-23(ESV)

I was so excited about the plans I was making. One plan led to another and then the excitement began to turn into frustration – where was I going to get the time to do all of this and hear from God and pray and write devotions and exercise etc. etc. How quickly excitement for the future turned to anxiety and frustration. All along I’ve been praying, ‘Lord lead me; Father don’t let me stray from the path you’ve chosen for me.’ and you know what? He’s been doing just that. I simply had to take a breath, quiet down …and listen.

Instruction comes in the form of the Word of God and promptings (leadings) from the Holy Spirit and I’ve been so consumed with my thoughts that I couldn’t hear Him clearly. He wants me to slow down, to put Him first and the work He has for me and in time – the right time – He will bring his plans for me to fruition.

The realization of this immediately brought peace to my heart. One of the sign-posts God uses to point us to His will is peace. A self-check will tell us whether or not we’re at peace. A few weeks ago, while in prayer, I asked the Lord about this ‘jumpy feeling’ I’d been having, whether or not it was still excitement or if it had morphed into anxiety. Doesn’t the scripture tell us to acknowledge the Lord in all of our ways and He will direct our paths? The only clear pathway is the one that God makes for us.

I know that anxiety is an indicator that I’m straying into a place or state of thought I should not be and that God said we should follow peace with all men (this includes ourselves!) so I asked Him what this feeling was. He answered in a way as only He can. There was no condemnation only love and (significant) patience. He’s so lovely!

Beloved, when we are truly in the will of the Lord we will be at peace in our spirit and heart and mind. That is not to say everything around us will be peaceful but we will be at peace; peace that surpasses understanding.

I encourage you today to do a self-check. Are you like I was, are you experiencing anxiety or frustration? Are you easily annoyed while working on whatever project you’ve undertaken? Follow the sign post to the road called Peace my friend. Heed the words of wisdom God has made available to us and be patient, in time (the right time) God’s purpose will be made manifest.
