I am not a sinner saved by grace. To be a sinner means that at the core of who you are is sin; sin dominates and directs your being. I am the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, I am a royal priesthood, I am the elect, the set aside for God’s service, I am a co-inheritor with Christ Jesus, I am the Redeemed, I am God’s disciple and His child by adoption, born-again into the Body of Christ!
Do you know Who you are?
Are you still laying claim to the things of the world, to nature-of-Adam; living as Adam’s off-spring rather than a child of God? Is your language peppered with, can’t and impossible or I can do all things through Christ Jesus, I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency?
Do you know whose you are?
You have been adopted into the Body of Christ, not by mistake or as a second thought. God saw you from across time and space and desired to have you as His own. He planned accordingly! He prepared for Himself a body and called it Son then He shed His royal diadem, took up that tent of flesh and came to the land where we reside all to lay claim to His chosen child.
Do you know that you are on God’s mind? Constantly?
There is not a space of second where God does not consider you; if He slept He would dream of you but as it is, He thinks of you incessantly, plans for you, orchestrates your days and nights, move barriers, open pathways, calms the sea and rebukes the Princes of the Air all on your behalf! You are not a second thought, an after-thought or a foggy memory – you are His first, His last, His everything.
Do you know that you are in God’s heart?
Not only are you in God’s heart but your name is written in the Palm of His Hands. You are His and Beloved, He should be yours but first…do you know who you are?
The identity you take for yourself will determine the path you tread. To truly know who you are and whose you are you have to read the Book that answers these questions. The Bible has the answer to all of life’s questions. If you never read it, never study or meditate on the Words of God – how can you know Him or yourself?
Instead of living a life filled with questions, doubts and fear – open up the Book! God doesn’t want a drive-by acquaintance with us, He wants a live-in friend! He wants us to abide (rest, remain in, dwell) in Him. Set aside time to truly study the Word of God. Reading a scripture here or there, a Devotional or two (or three) will give you a mere acquaintance with the Lord. That is not what God desires of us. He wants a relationship. He wants to be our first, our last and our everything. Will you begin today?
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. John 15:19
